About the Role

As our Maths and Science Curriculum Lead, you'll lead the development, implementation and ongoing improvement of curriculum provision across Maths and Science. You'll ensure our planning is ambitious, inclusive and robust-while staying practical enough to support day‑to‑day delivery for learners with a range of needs. You won't simply write documents and leave them on a shelf. You'll work alongside colleagues, model excellent practice, and strengthen consistency across settings through clear guidance, quality assurance and meaningful professional development.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Own and develop the Maths and Science curriculum intent, implementation and assessment approach.
  • Ensure schemes of learning and learning sequences are aligned to relevant standards and are appropriate for learners’ starting points.
  • Support staff in delivering effective teaching, curriculum coverage and assessment practices.
  • Lead quality assurance activities (e.g., lesson observations, learning walks, work scrutiny) with a focus on impact.
  • Identify improvement priorities, provide targeted support, and track progress over time.
  • Develop resources and guidance that help learners access content confidently and develop transferable skills.
  • Promote inclusive teaching strategies and adapt provision to meet individual needs.
  • Use data and evidence to evaluate what's working, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with wider curriculum and care teams to ensure learning supports overall wellbeing and development.
About you

You may be a curriculum leader, subject specialist or experienced teacher ready to take the next step. Either way, you'll bring deep subject knowledge in Maths and/or Science, and an understanding of how learners learn – especially those who need extra support, structure or encouragement. You'll communicate clearly and kindly, building trust with staff and learners. You'll be comfortable challenging inconsistent practice, while keeping your feedback constructive and developmental. We're looking for someone who:

  • QTS status
  • Has strong knowledge of Maths and Science curriculums and experience of effective teaching strategies.
  • Can translate curriculum aims into practical classroom delivery and coherent assessment.
  • Enjoys coaching and supporting colleagues to improve outcomes for learners.
  • Uses evidence-data, observations and learner work-to drive improvement.
  • Is confident managing competing priorities and planning effectively.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding, professional standards and positive relationships.
  • Brings an engaging approach to learning that makes subjects feel relevant and achievable.
