Job summary

Witherslack Group is seeking a Maths Lead/Teacher to make a real difference for learners at Hilden Park School in Tonbridge. You will teach the National Curriculum across secondary levels with small classes and tailor lessons to individual needs.

You will oversee Maths and numeracy across KS1/KS2 planning, support pupils to build confidence with numbers and prepare them for GCSE, while benefiting from in-house support and a rewarding teaching career.

As a Maths Teacher, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real difference to how our young people see themselves as learners. Whether it’s helping a pupil understand a mathematical concept they’ve previously struggled with, building their confidence with numbers or seeing them achieve something they never thought they could, you’ll be there to celebrate every step forward.

You’ll be working with children and young people with Autistic Spectrum Disorder/Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. You’ll be there to help them learn, develop their abilities and raise their self-esteem. You will need to be resilient and dedicated, but those huge small victories that you achieve will be something you’re really proud of.

As a Maths Lead, you’ll teach the National Curriculum across all secondary levels, adapting your lessons to meet the individual needs, abilities and starting points of each pupil. You’ll teach classes of a maximum of 6–8 pupils, giving you the opportunity to really get to know your young people and understand how they learn best. Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you’ll take whole-school responsibility for Maths and numeracy, including oversight of KS1 and KS2 planning and provision.

You’ll plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across the secondary curriculum, supporting pupils to develop their mathematical knowledge, problem-solving skills and confidence. Whether you’re teaching foundational concepts or preparing pupils for your GCSEs, you’ll be able to tailor your approach and provide the individual support each young person needs to make progress. You’ll also lead on numeracy across the school, working with colleagues to ensure a consistent approach to Maths and support the development of pupils’ mathematical skills across all key stages.
