Job summary

The Progress Group is seeking a Maths Teacher to lead delivery and development of Mathematics across the school, with additional teaching in other subjects as per curriculum needs. The role also includes leading a vocational afternoon programme, shaping engaging curriculum to support pupils’ development and future destinations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant teaching subject (secondary).
  • QTS/QTLS or willingness to work towards it.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in the delivery and development of Mathematics across the school, while also teaching a small number of additional subjects in line with the school's curriculum model. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious teacher who is keen to influence curriculum development, contribute to whole-school improvement, and support the continued growth of the provision.

In addition, the successful candidate will lead a vocational afternoon programme, with the specific area of responsibility to be agreed following interview, taking into account the candidate's experience, interests, and strengths. What are we looking for from you?
  • Engagement Skills: Ability to engage learners and support their ambitions, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to the classroom and beyond.
  • Emotional Support: Passionate about making a positive impact on students’ lives.
  • Academic Background: Degree in a relevant teaching subject, equivalent for SEN (desirable).
  • Core Teaching Qualifications: Teaching qualification in QTS/QTLS or willingness to work towards it. Specialist teaching qualification (desirable).
  • Experience: Experience working in a school environment, particularly secondary school (advantageous).
  • Teaching Subjects: English, Maths and Science proficiency, minimum of grade 4/C or higher.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of alternative provision and dealing with students with special needs.
  • Problem‑Solving: Aptitude for solving problems and making effective decisions.
  • Communication: Professional communication with students and staff.
  • Promotion of Values: Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, safeguarding, wellbeing and British values.
  • Time Management: Effective time management for planning, delivery and assessment.
About The School

Progress Schools is part of The Progress Group, a national group of 13 independent OFSTED‑regulated schools. Progress Schools – Stockport supports approximately 20 pupils on roll, providing a nurturing, encouraging and supportive environment for those who will reintegrate back into a mainstream setting. The core team comprises the Head of School, four teachers and four support staff, with additional regional and national support.
