Job summary

Outcomes First Group is seeking a Maths Lead at Glebedale School in Stoke-on-Trent. The role combines curriculum leadership with teaching excellence to make Maths meaningful for pupils with SEMH needs.

You will shape the curriculum, mentor colleagues, and work with senior leaders to raise standards and create engaging learning experiences that build confidence and achievement for vulnerable learners.

Qualifications

  • UK QTS or equivalent required.
  • Strong subject knowledge across maths topics (including GCSE/Functional Skills).
  • Ability to plan and deliver accredited Maths pathways and GCSE delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop an engaging Maths curriculum aligned with national standards.
  • Deliver inspiring Maths lessons that challenge learners.
  • Drive achievement and progress across key stages using data and assessment.
  • Support and develop colleagues to maintain high-quality Maths provision.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and SENCo to support pupil success.
  • Oversee Maths pathways including Functional Skills, Entry Level and GCSE.

Job Title: Maths Lead

Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday – Friday | Monday 8am - 4pm & Tuesday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

Salary: Up to £45,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: October 2026

At Glebedale School, we’re looking for an inspiring Maths Lead to guide our Mathematics provision and help pupils achieve more than they ever thought possible.

This is more than a teaching role. You’ll shape the curriculum, inspire colleagues and create engaging learning experiences that build confidence, resilience and achievement for young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

As a Maths Lead, you’ll combine excellent classroom practice with subject leadership, working alongside senior leaders and colleagues to raise standards, develop new approaches and ensure every pupil has the opportunity to succeed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading and developing an engaging Maths curriculum aligned with national standards
  • Delivering inspiring Maths lessons that motivate and challenge learners
  • Driving achievement, progress and positive outcomes across all key stages
  • Supporting and developing colleagues to ensure consistently high-quality Maths provision
  • Using assessment data to identify strengths, gaps and intervention opportunities
  • Working closely with senior leaders and the SENCo to support pupil success
  • Overseeing accredited Maths pathways including Functional Skills, Entry Level and GCSE
  • Contributing to whole-school improvement and promoting a culture of high expectations
About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • UK QTS or equivalent
  • Strong subject knowledge across number, algebra, geometry, statistics and problem‑solving.
  • Ability to plan and deliver accredited Maths pathways (Functional Skills, GCSE, Entry Level).
  • Skilled in engaging learners through varied and differentiated teaching methods.
  • Understanding of assessment and how to use it to support progress.
  • Awareness of statutory requirements for pupils with additional needs.
  • Empathy, resilience and the ability to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Confident in analysing data for regulatory and accreditation purposes.
  • Degree‑level education and evidence of teaching competence.
About us

Glebedale School is a special needs school which provides provision for ages 7 years and upwards. We provide a nurturing and welcoming environment to SEMH pupils, and our curriculum has a keen focus on therapy, education and personal development. Our school aims to help pupils grow academically, socially and emotionally to enable them to become capable future citizens.

We provide education to 40 pupils from the Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire and Cheshire areas. At our last Ofsted in July 2025, we were rated "Good".
