Job summary

Step Into Teaching Limited is seeking a Maths Graduate HLTA for a well-regarded secondary school in the UK. The role focuses on delivering maths-focused interventions and leading small group and 1:1 support under teacher guidance.

The successful candidate will cover maths lessons, support curriculum delivery, and help create engaging resources while promoting inclusive learning. A maths degree is required; HLTA qualification is desirable and a DBS check is required.

Maths Graduate Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Are you an experienced HLTA or an aspiring educator with a strong background in Mathematics, looking for a meaningful role in a specialist school setting?

Do you have the skills and passion to support young people to achieve confidence and success in Maths?

We are working with a well-regarded Secondary School supporting pupils aged 11–18, who are seeking a Maths HLTA to join their dedicated team for the academic year.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver and lead Maths-focused small group interventions and 1:1 support


• Cover and lead Maths lessons (with teacher guidance) when required


• Support Maths curriculum delivery and create engaging resources


• Guide and support other teaching assistants during Maths sessions


• Build pupils’ confidence, independence, and problem-solving skills in Maths


• Promote positive behaviour and emotional regulation through structured learning


• Monitor progress and contribute to assessment and reporting


• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment

What We’re Looking For

• A degree in Maths or a related subject (minimum 2:2)


• HLTA qualification or equivalent experience (desirable)


• Experience in schools or SEND settings (Autism experience advantageous)


• Confident leading Maths sessions independently


• Strong understanding of safeguarding and SEND support


• A proactive, flexible, and nurturing approach


• A genuine passion for inclusive education and Maths learning
