Job summary

The Graduate Network is seeking a Maths Academic Coach to join a secondary school in the Ward of Selly Oak. You will support KS3 and KS4 students through targeted 1:1 and small‑group maths interventions, helping pupils build confidence and improve understanding of key concepts.

You will assist with lesson delivery and exam preparation, contributing to a positive maths department culture and student attainment. The role runs from now until July 2027.

Qualifications

• Degree in mathematics or related subject.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Experience tutoring, mentoring or working with pupils is advantageous but not essential.

1:1 and small group support across Maths KS3 & KS4

The Role:

As a Maths Academic Coach, you'll work alongside the maths department to provide tailored academic support to students in Key Stage 3 and 4. You'll lead small group interventions, provide one-to-one support for pupils who need extra help, and assist with lesson delivery and exam preparation. Your input will help students build confidence and improve their understanding of key mathematical concepts.

The Candidate:

You should hold a degree in mathematics or a related subject. Strong communication skills and the ability to explain ideas clearly are essential. You'll need to be confident working with young people and committed to supporting their academic development. Any experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with pupils will be an advantage.

Requirements

• Degree - A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children - A genuine interest in helping students succeed and progressing into teaching.
• Experience working with children - Any relevant experience such as tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering is desirable but not essential.
