Job summary

The Graduate Network is seeking an English Academic Coach to support secondary students in KS3 and KS4 with tailored reading, writing, and analytical interventions. You will work alongside the English department delivering 1:1 and small group sessions, helping students build confidence and prepare for exams.

Applicants should hold a degree in English or a closely related subject, communicate clearly, and show enthusiasm for education.

Qualifications

• Degree: A 2:2 or higher in English or related subject.
• Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS certificate required or willing to obtain one.
• Desire to work in education/with children.
• Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or volunteering is helpful but not essential.

£80 - £100 per day

1:1 and small group academic support across the English curriculum

The Role

As an English Academic Coach, you’ll work alongside the English department to deliver targeted academic support to students across KS3 and KS4. You’ll run small group sessions, provide one-to-one interventions, and assist in preparing pupils for assessments and exams. Your role will also involve contributing to lesson preparation and helping pupils develop their confidence in reading, writing, and critical analysis.

The Candidate

You should hold a degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related subject. A clear communicator with a supportive and proactive attitude, you’ll need to be confident working with young people. Any previous experience in education, tutoring, or mentoring will be helpful but not essential.

Requirements

• Degree - A 2:2 or above in any subject.
• Communication - Clear and confident verbal and written communication.
• Enhanced DBS - Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate.
• Desire to work in education/with children - A strong interest in supporting students and pursuing a teaching career.
