Maternity Support Worker - Higher Level

The post holder will be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT), undertaking personal care activities, delegated clinical care duties, including clinical observations as directed by registered professionals and within clearly defined parameters, to provide healthcare and support tailored to individual patient needs. This post covers antenatal and postnatal areas within maternity and will be rotational.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will update and maintain accurate records of care provided and escalate concerns from observations and activities to the appropriate registered professional. They have a personal responsibility and duty of care to patients/service users; complying fully with all Trust policies and protocols related to patient safety and infection prevention. They must promote dignity, privacy, and respect, delivering compassionate, safe, high-quality patient care. As a Trust employee, they will honor their work commitments, be reliable and trustworthy, uphold the Trust values, and always display civility towards others.

  • Numeracy and Literacy Level 2
  • Level 3 vocational qualification or equivalent, such as short courses and competency workbook in patient and clinical care duties, or equivalent knowledge and experience in clinical care duties at Level 3, including theoretical knowledge, care procedures, clinical observations, and relevant legislation.
