We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Support Worker to complement our welcoming multi-disciplinary team within the Eye Day Unit at The James Cook University Hospital.

There will be opportunities to further develop your skills and complete the relevant courses to support the smooth running of the department.

Band 2 requirements – willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.

Main duties of the job

EYE DAY UNIT

Awarded Diamond accreditation by STAQ, we are looking for a clinical support worker with suitable experience or willing to learn the role of a clinical support worker to work within our busy Eye Day unit department.

To work as part of a multidisciplinary team assisting with patient care and other departmental-related duties to ensure kind, safe, and compassionate care for patients.

  • To provide a high standard of care within their scope of practice as delegated by the registered practitioner.
  • To attend mandatory updates. Carry out other delegated duties within your role constraints. Adhering to the Trust's policies and procedures.
  • Recognising and acting to minimise potential risks involved in work activities.
  • Adhering to health and safety requirements at all times. Understanding the importance of reporting concerns relating to patient care.
  • Keeps accurate and complete records applicable to the job role.
  • Communicates effectively with a range of people about day-to-day things as required by the job role.
  • Work in a self-motivated and professional manner.
  • A sensible, safe conscious approach to work is necessary at all times as well as strict observance of the Trust's policies and procedures.
  • To communicate effectively and promptly within the team.
  • Understand the principle of confidentiality.

South Tees Hospitals is the largest hospital trust in the Tees Valley with two acute hospitals and services in a number of community hospitals.

The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough is a designated major trauma centre and provides all its specialties from one site which is unique for a hospital of its size. It provides a wide range of district general hospital services and specialist services such as neurosciences, renal medicine, spinal injuries, major trauma, cardiothoracics, vascular surgery and cancer services. It has 1,024 beds, a 24-hour acute admissions unit and an emergency department which houses the major trauma centre for Durham, East Cleveland, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire and has its own helipad. In 2012 the Middlesbrough hospital completed a £35 million redevelopment of its cancer services and is now proud to provide some of the best facilities in Europe. The James Cook University Hospital has a modern, central operating suite containing 20 well-equipped theatres and a 16-bedded intensive care unit. There is also an Institute of Learning, Research and Innovation on site, embracing postgraduate medical education, undergraduate teaching centre, nurse training school, the school of radiography and library facilities.

The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton is an essential part of our organisation and an important point of delivery for the community. It is one of the smallest district general hospitals in the country and has 189 inpatient beds.

Leadership and Improvement Training
South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers leadership and improvement training to all new staff. This training programme has been designed to support our staff in developing their understanding of leadership and management skills. You will be expected to attend the following training sessions
