Job summary

Colchester United is seeking a Match day & Event Steward to assist the management team with coordinating supporters and visitors in a safe environment before, during, and after events at the JobServe Community Stadium in Colchester.

The role requires NVQ Level 2 spectator safety; excellent communication and teamwork are essential, with a focus on preventing overcrowding, reporting hazards, and assisting in emergency responses.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 spectator safety
• Experience in customer service is advantageous
• Excellent communication and teamwork are essential

Responsibilities

• Attend pre/post match briefings and sign in
• Know ground exits and firefighting equipment locations
• Monitor crowd for distress or overcrowding and follow instructions
• Assist in diverting spectators and closing turnstiles when capacity is reached
• Ensure exits and gangways are kept clear and staff parking areas are managed
• Assist in evacuation of the ground and identification of banned or ticketless spectators
• Report any damage or safety issues to the supervisor or control room
• Remain at allocated post unless instructed otherwise by supervisors or police
