Job summary

Colchester United is seeking a Match Day & Event Steward to assist the management team in coordinating supporters and visitors at the JobServe Community Stadium. The role focuses on maintaining a safe environment before, during and after matches and events.

Key duties include briefing, operating safety equipment, monitoring crowd safety, reporting incidents, and assisting in emergency response as required. NVQ Level 2 spectator safety is required; experience in customer service is advantageous.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 spectator safety required.
• Customer service experience is advantageous.
• Good communicator with ability to work in a team.

Responsibilities

• Attend pre and post match briefing to sign in and determine duties.
• Know the location of firefighting equipment and first aid resources at the ground.
• Be conversant with emergency signaling and procedures.
• Identify and report incidents among spectators to the control room.
• Monitor crowd to prevent distress or overcrowding and enforce capacity limits.
• Direct spectators away from restricted areas and ensure exits remain clear.
• Staff parking and ensure emergency routes remain accessible.
• Assist in crowd management during evacuations or pitch incidents.
