Job description

Remote with presence required during the festival

This is a contract role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with a sharp eye for engaging content and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will be confident in managing multiple social channels, creating content with flair, and connecting with a wide range of audiences and partners.

The Marketing Coordinator reports to the Festival Manager who leads on festival production, financial and project management. They will work closely with the Programming Director who leads on overall artistic curation of the festival. The festival dates for 2025 are Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th October in Killarney.

  • Part-time from mid July; Full-time (35 hours/week) during the 5 weeks leading up to the festival
  • Fixed-term contract, mid-July to one week post-festival in October
  • Remote/flexible. The role is primarily remote, but the applicant must be available to be on-site in Killarney for the full four days of the festival.
  • €3,500 fee, with travel expenses reimbursed, accommodation provided for the duration of the festival, and complimentary tickets to festival screenings
  • Create, schedule, and post content across KIFF’s social platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X/Twitter, etc.)
  • Respond to queries and messages on social platforms where appropriate
  • Coordinate and implement content plans in the lead-up to and during the festival

Content Creation

  • Design graphics using Canva in line with KIFF’s brand and event themes
  • Write engaging copy for social media based on programming/event information provided by the KIFF team
  • Assist with video content: coordinate or edit short videos (e.g. event previews, behind-the-scenes clips, on-the-ground festival coverage using tools like CapCut)

Newsletter

  • Responsible for drafting and curating newsletter content based on programming and event information provided by the KIFF team.
  • You’ll work closely with the team to ensure the newsletter reflects upcoming events, special announcements, and key festival details, maintaining a consistent and engaging voice that aligns with our brand.

Targeted Outreach & Engagement

  • Connect with relevant groups and organisations (arts, cultural, community) to share news, events, and competitions once the festival programme is finalised
  • Coordinate social media collaborations in the lead-up to the festival

Additional Support

  • Provide occasional updates or assistance with the festival website
  • Assist with proofreading brochures, printed materials and press releases accuracy and tone
Person specifications
  • Minimum 2 years proven experience managing social media for festivals or events
  • Strong copywriting and visual communication skills
  • Proficiency in Canva, and basic video editing tools like CapCut in addition to Mailchimp
  • Organised, self-motivated, and comfortable working flexibly to a deadline
  • A genuine interest in arts and culture, particularly film.
