Job summary

TQR Consultancy Ltd is recruiting a Marine Technical Business Development Manager based in Plymouth. The role focuses on driving strategic growth across UK and Norwegian manufacturing operations, combining engineering expertise with commercial acumen to identify, develop and convert new business opportunities.

You will build strong client relationships and collaborate with technical teams to deliver innovative, technically sound solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree/HNC/HND in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or Product Design.
• Proven experience as Sales Engineer/Technical BDM or Applications Engineer.
• Commercially driven with a proactive growth mindset.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with cross‑functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute business development strategies for UK and Norwegian facilities.
• Identify and drive cross‑selling opportunities across sites.
• Build strong relationships with customers to expand products, services and manufacturing solutions.
• Generate new business opportunities through market research, customer visits and industry events.
• Collaborate with sales, engineering, design and production to develop technically attractive solutions.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of products and manufacturing capabilities to present solutions.
• Prepare technical proposals, quotations and customer presentations.
• Maintain regular communication with UK and Norwegian teams for alignment on opportunities and requirements.
• Monitor market trends and competitors to identify future growth opportunities.
• Represent the company professionally at meetings, exhibitions and international visits.
• Maintain a sales pipeline with opportunities, forecasts and activity reports.
• Support strategic partnerships and long‑term customer relationships globally.
