Job Description

Manufacturing Engineer Supply Chain - Composite Technology Facility

Full Time

Bristol / Hybrid (minimum 3 days/week on-site)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Bristol, developing manufacturing methods, processes, and materials for composite fan blades and containment casings. We are experiencing growth as we deliver composite components across various products, including the UltraFan Demonstrator Programme.

Rolls-Royce, a historic and innovative brand, designs and services systems providing critical power with safety and reliability at the core.

We support progress by powering, protecting, and connecting people worldwide. We seek individuals who can contribute to our ongoing excellence and ingenuity.

The Composite Technology Facility (CTF), part of our Compressor Components business, supports Rolls-Royce's civil aviation sector.

There is an excellent opportunity for a Composite Assembly Manufacturing Engineer within our UltraFan Engine Project Team, focusing on developing hardware for the Mk2 Engine Architecture. This role is based at the CTF Bristol Filton site and involves collaboration with internal and external suppliers, with travel as needed.

We foster a caring, inclusive, and innovative environment that offers extensive opportunities for career growth and impact.

This role provides hands-on experience with composite assembly processes at Rolls-Royce and allows influence over the next generation of fan systems. The successful candidate will manage relationships with the CTF supply chain, ensuring quality and conformance of hardware, understanding product and process requirements, and executing improvements within specified timelines and budgets.

What we offer

We offer excellent development opportunities, competitive salary, and benefits including bonuses, support assistance, and discounts. Our hybrid working model balances office, home, and remote work, with a minimum of three days on-site for collaboration.

What you will be doing

In this role, you will:

  • Build and maintain relationships with the CTF supply chain, conducting regular reviews to track progress and actions.

Manage processes including impact liners and metalwork assembly, resolve technical issues, lead problem resolution with suppliers, and escalate delays.

  • Oversee supplier approval processes, release process documentation, and approve special processes.
  • Drive supply chain quality and cost improvements during the UltraFan Programme's industrialization phases.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within the supply chain.

Share best practices and ensure value for money for Rolls-Royce.

  • Manage hardware delivery into CTF, resolving non-conformance issues during goods receipt inspection.

Who we're looking for:

We seek individuals who embody safety, integrity, simplicity, and impact. Candidates should have:

  • An Engineering or relevant discipline degree, HND, HNC, with manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to assembly impact liners or honeycomb sandwich structures.
  • Experience in supplier management within an aerospace management system.
  • Understanding of manufacturing capability development and engineering tools.
  • Logical, analytical, and innovative problem-solving skills, with the ability to make balanced decisions.
  • Strong teamwork and influencing skills.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion, fostering a culture of caring and belonging.
