Alexander Mann Solutions - Contingency is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for a 12 month contract based in Bristol. You will drive continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, maximise yield and quality, and support new product introductions.

Responsibilities include leading Lean/Six Sigma projects, maintaining PFMEA and process documentation, analysing data, and collaborating with Operations, Planning, Quality and suppliers to meet cost, lead time and delivery targets.

  • Create, update, and maintain process documentation and technical packages.
  • Support New Product Introduction with APQP/PPAP principles.

Purpose of the Role:

Drive the continuous improvement and optimisation of manufacturing processes to maximise process capability, yield, quality, and operational efficiency.

Analyse process performance, identify root causes of manufacturing issues, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions to reduce scrap and improve process control.

Support the introduction of new products, equipment, and process improvements while ensuring robust documentation and manufacturing standards are maintained.

What You’ll Do:
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve manufacturing processes and methods of manufacture.
  • Monitor process performance, define key process variables, and implement control measures to ensure optimum manufacturing performance.
  • Analyse data, perform root cause investigations, and lead corrective actions.
  • Own and maintain PFMEA activities.
  • Define, analyse, and report process change requirements.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and new equipment introductions, managing validation activities where required.
  • Create, update, and maintain manufacturing process documentation, operating procedures, technical packages, and FAIRs.
  • Support New Product Introduction activities, applying APQP and PPAP principles.
  • Work closely with Operations, Planning, Quality, suppliers, and customers to ensure manufacturing processes meet requirements for quality, cost, delivery, and lead time.
The Skills You’ll Need:
  • Previous experience in a Manufacturing Engineer, Process Engineer, or similar engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with experience investigating manufacturing issues and implementing process improvements.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, with experience leading continuous improvement or scrap reduction projects.
  • Experience using PFMEA, SPC, APQP, and PPAP methodologies.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.
  • Excellent organisational, presentation, and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and enthusiastic approach with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
