Job summary

Orion Electrotech in Maidenhead, United Kingdom, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our engineering, supply chain and operations teams to improve production processes and meet delivery targets.

The role focuses on real-time problem solving, process optimisation, DFM and NPI support, with opportunities to lead efficiency projects and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing operations.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in manufacturing, production, engineering or a technical environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing process simulation, production systems.
  • Proven experience managing engineering projects and delivering process improvement initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment and quality management systems.
  • Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Chartered Engineer status, or working towards accreditation, would be advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment, supporting production processes and continuous improvement activities.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time technical support to resolve production issues, including equipment failures, quality concerns and process inefficiencies.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction and continuous improvement throughout manufacturing operations.
  • Support manufacturing processes, validation activities and product performance verification to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Coordinate with production and quality teams to investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, testing discrepancies and failure modes.
  • Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities for new and existing products.
  • Manage manufacturing activities during the transition from development through to full-scale production.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive production documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures and job routings.
  • Lead process simulation, analysis and optimisation initiatives to improve efficiency and throughput.
  • Monitor and analyse production data to identify trends, measure performance and drive improvements.

Job Role for the Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will work closely with Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations teams to meet delivery targets, improve productivity and support the continuous development of manufacturing processes.

The Successful Manufacturing Engineer Will Have the Following Skills and Experience
