Job summary

Terry Parris Associates is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvement and support new product introductions at Sunbury-on-Thames. You will work across operations, supply chain and design engineering to transform ideas into efficient, cost-effective and repeatable manufacturing processes.

The role emphasizes Lean manufacturing, PFMEA, control plans and hands-on shop floor support, with a focus on reducing waste, improving flow and delivering measurable performance

Qualifications

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement across production.
  • Develop and implement Standard Work, SOPs, routings and visual factory standards.
  • Improve manufacturing flow using 5S, 7 Wastes, one-piece flow, Visual Management and balanced assembly lines.
  • Analyse production data, identify bottlenecks and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Establish and optimise product cycle times.
  • Lead improvement projects and CAPEX linked to new processes and products.
  • Support NPI, from initial introduction through to full production.
  • Develop and optimise cost-effective manufacturing processes.
  • Create and maintain PFMEAs, process maps and control plans.
  • Provide hands-on engineering support to production, including NCRs, concessions, engineering changes and MRB activities.
  • Support product transfers and ensure robust manufacturing processes throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Work with engineering teams on documentation changes and parts obsolescence.
  • Mentor production leaders and help develop better assembly and test methods.

Location: Sunbury-on-Thames

You'll work across operations, supply chain and design engineering, turning ideas into efficient, cost-effective and repeatable manufacturing processes.

What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years' experience in aerospace, automotive or a closely related manufacturing environment.
  • Proven Manufacturing Engineering experience within an electro-mechanical environment.
  • Strong experience in NPI and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Practical knowledge of Standard Work, PFMEA, control plans and process mapping.
  • Experience with 5 Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa and 8D problem-solving techniques.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
  • Understanding of SPC, Gauge R&R and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving ability.
  • The confidence to lead improvement initiatives and influence others.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word and Excel.
