Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our engineering team. You will provide real-time technical support to resolve production issues, drive process improvements, and support DFMA activities for new and existing products.

Ideally, you will have a minimum of 3 years in a manufacturing environment, with experience in process simulation, Lean/Six Sigma, and a track record of delivering improvements across production lines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing/production/engineering environment.
• Experience with manufacturing process simulation and production systems.
• Proven experience managing engineering projects and delivering process improvements.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, equipment and quality management systems.
• Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or related discipline.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Chartered Engineer status or working towards accreditation advantageous.
• Hands-on experience in supporting production processes and continuous improvement.
• Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis techniques.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time technical support to resolve production issues and quality concerns.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction and continuous improvement.
• Support manufacturing processes, validation activities and product performance verification to ensure specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to investigate manufacturing issues and discrepancies.
• Support DFManufacture activities for new and existing products.
• Manage manufacturing activities during transition from development to full-scale production.
• Develop and maintain production documentation (work instructions, SOPs, routings).
• Lead process simulation, analysis and optimisation to improve efficiency and throughput.
• Monitor production data to identify trends and drive improvements.

Job Role for the Manufacturing Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Provide real-time technical support to resolve production issues, including equipment failures, quality concerns and process inefficiencies.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process optimisation, cost reduction and continuous improvement throughout manufacturing operations.
• Support manufacturing processes, validation activities and product performance verification to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to investigate and resolve manufacturing issues, testing discrepancies and failure modes.
• Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities for new and existing products.
• Manage manufacturing activities during the transition from development through to full-scale production.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive production documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures and job routings.
• Lead process simulation, analysis and optimisation initiatives to improve efficiency and throughput.
• Monitor and analyse production data to identify trends, measure performance and drive improvements.

The Successful Manufacturing Engineer Will Have the Following Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a manufacturing, production, engineering or technical environment.
• Experience with manufacturing process simulation, production systems.
• Proven experience managing engineering projects and delivering process improvement initiatives.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment and quality management systems.
• Degree qualified in Engineering, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) activities.
• Chartered Engineer status, or working towards accreditation, would be advantageous.
• Hands-on experience within a manufacturing environment, supporting production processes and continuous improvement activities.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles, Six Sigma methodologies and root cause analysis techniques.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
