Job summary

AMS is seeking a Manufacturing Technician in Solihull for a 12-month contract. You will join the Hydromechanical Valves production team, producing high-precision components for Civil and Defence Aerospace.

You will operate advanced machining equipment, read drawings, perform quality inspections, and collaborate with Engineering and Maintenance to ensure safety, quality and on-time delivery within established processes.

Qualifications

  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in engineering with an apprenticeship.
  • Experience in manufacturing operations and production environments.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and use inspection techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Operate machining equipment to produce components safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings to part tolerances.
  • Carry out quality inspections using precision measuring equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues with Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment uptime.
  • Record production and quality data accurately while maintaining safety.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet targets.

Job description - the role

As a Manufacturing Technician you will work as part of the Hydromechanical Valves production team and play a critical role in the production of high-precision components for the Civil and Defence Aerospace businesses, ensuring components are of the highest standard, ensuring safety, customer quality and on time delivery following established working processes and quality procedures.

As a Manufacturing Technician you will:
  • Operate advanced machining equipment to produce high-quality components safely and efficiently.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to manufacture parts to precise tolerances.
  • Carry out quality inspections using precision measuring equipment and visual standards.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to enhance productivity, quality, and performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in collaboration with Engineering and Maintenance teams.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Accurately record production and quality data while maintaining high safety standards.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to achieve production targets and solve problems.
What We're Looking for in a Manufacturing Technician:
  • NVQ/SVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline including completing a time-served recognised apprenticeship*
  • Experience in manufacturing operations & production environment.
  • Able to work to technical instructions and adhere to fixed process and quality standards.
  • Knowledge & experience of a wide range of inspection techniques.

We will only accept workers operating via a PAYE engagement model.
