Job summary

Princess Yachts Limited in Plymouth is seeking a proactive Manufacturing Engineer to drive continuous improvement and optimize production processes. You will work closely with Production and cross-functional teams to standardise methods, support new product introductions, and reduce waste while improving cost, quality and delivery.

The role requires hands-on engineering, strong analytical skills, and effective communication to influence change in a high craft manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to eliminate waste and improve cost, quality, delivery, and efficiency.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities to ensure an efficient and effective production launch.
  • Analyze manufacturing data and performance metrics to identify and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain standard work, process maps, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Optimize manufacturing processes, layouts, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and build sequence.
  • Provide structured problem-solving support to production teams and resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Drive process standardisation and influence Design for Manufacture (DFM) improvements.
  • Collaborate with production and cross-functional teams to deliver operational improvements.
  • Champion appropriate Lean Manufacturing principles and maintain high standards of Health, Safety & Environmental culture.

Job description

We are looking for a proactive and driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in improving manufacturing performance, driving operational excellence, and supporting the introduction of new products.

Working closely with Production and other cross-functional teams, you will be responsible for developing, improving, and standardising manufacturing processes that enhance productivity, reduce waste, improve quality, and support business growth.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will:

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking an analytical and hands‑on engineer with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.

  • Experience within a manufacturing or production engineering environment (low volume with complex / high process variation desirable).
  • Demonstrable experience in influencing change in a ‘high craft’ / skilled manufacturing environment.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects.
  • Degree, Level 6 qualification, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills with the ability to interpret manufacturing data and performance metrics.
  • Practical engineering mindset with a hands‑on approach to problem solving.
  • Experience applying engineering principles to improve manufacturing processes, efficiency, and cost performance.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and results‑focused with a strong sense of accountability.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
