Role Overview:
This role involves querying sophisticated SQL-based databases, conducting detailed analyses (e.g., building predictive models), crafting reports, and visualizing insights in an intuitive manner. You will collaborate closely with skilled analysts across Expedia Group, supporting TPM Account Management leaders with data-driven insights.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extract and combine data from multiple sources for model building or analytics, applying machine learning theory and statistical concepts like regression, ANOVA, and A/B testing.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify business questions, enhance feature selection, and choose appropriate measurement techniques.
  • Define and build data models, interpret outputs, iterate to improve models, and advise team members on statistical techniques.
  • Create data pipelines and workflows, considering legal implications, and develop visualizations using R/Python charting packages.
  • Apply inclusive design principles to visualizations, provide feedback to upskill teammates, and work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Communicate project goals, methodologies, caveats, and conclusions clearly to various audiences, seeking feedback and acting on it.
  • Document technical artifacts and summaries, and understand organizational objectives and challenges.
  • Work with big data, explaining challenges and solutions to technical and non-technical partners, and write efficient SQL queries.
  • Follow up on data issues to resolution, ensure data quality, and optimize queries and code for data pipelines.
  • Evaluate new querying tools and datasets, frame complex business problems as analytics tasks, and propose solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Use iterative thinking to determine next steps based on findings and select appropriate analytical approaches.
  • Operate independently and mentor junior colleagues.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Hold a PhD, Masters, or Bachelors degree in Mathematics or a related scientific field.
  • 4+ years of experience with a Masters, or 6+ years in a similar data analytics role.
  • Proven experience delivering data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Advanced skills in R, Python, or SQL for data analysis, transformation, and visualization.
  • Experience delivering analytics projects across different business areas with strong business acumen.
  • Proficiency in statistics, SQL, Python, R, or similar tools.
  • Data visualization skills for communicating results to diverse stakeholders.
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and approaches.
