Job summary

Hager Group in the United Kingdom is seeking a Maintenance Technician to safeguard the reliability of our manufacturing equipment. You will conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnose faults and implement robust fixes in a fast-paced plant environment located in Telford.

You will hold an engineering qualification and have hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems, including PLCs.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering).
  • Proven maintenance engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Hands-on expertise with mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving; able to read drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement with production and engineering teams.
  • Maintain maintenance records, schedules and documentation; provide technical support.

As a Maintenance Technician M/F/D you will report to Facilities Manager in the Manufacturing based in Telfordfor a Permanent contract.

What you will do?

As a Maintenance Engineer, you play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of manufacturing equipment in a dynamic industrial environment.

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot faults across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, ensuring timely and effective repairs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on recurring issues and implement sustainable solutions to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental standards, carrying out regular inspections and maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with production and engineering teams to optimise processes and performance.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, schedules and documentation, while providing technical support and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to meet operational goals.
What about you?
  • You hold a relevant engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3 or degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering).
  • You have proven experience in maintenance engineering within a manufacturing or industrial environment, with hands‑on expertise in mechanical and electrical systems, including PLCs.
  • You demonstrate strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to read technical drawings, schematics and machine documentation.
  • You are comfortable using maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and IT systems (including Microsoft Office and ideally SAP PM).
  • You are organised, detail‑oriented and able to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment, with strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • You are flexible and reliable, willing to work shifts, respond to emergencies and operate in hands‑on conditions, with a proactive and solution‑oriented mindset.
