Job summary

Allscreens Nationwide Ltd is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join a busy maintenance team, supporting the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment and site facilities. This is a varied hands-on role involving planned preventive maintenance, reactive breakdown repairs, continuous improvement activities and project work.

You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime and supporting operational efficiency across the site.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent.
  • GCSE grade 5 in Maths and English.
  • Minimum 5 years in a maintenance engineering role.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, automation or plating equipment.
  • IOSH Working Safely or similar safety qualification.
  • Proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
  • Completed engineering apprenticeship.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance on machinery, plant and site facilities.
  • Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults, repairing equipment and replacing components where required.
  • Respond promptly to breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
  • Use the CMMS system to manage maintenance tasks, prioritise workloads and maintain accurate maintenance records.
  • Support condition-based monitoring activities and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Install, maintain and test electrical and mechanical equipment, including control panels and fixed installations.
  • Work on hydraulic, pneumatic and PLC-controlled equipment.
  • Interpret electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic schematics and engineering drawings.
  • Support ongoing continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Assist with new equipment installations, site improvement projects and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain engineering tools and equipment to a high standard.
  • Coordinate with contractors where required, including reviewing RAMS and issuing permits to work.
  • Assist with sourcing spare parts and processing purchase orders.
  • Support facilities maintenance, including buildings, utilities and infrastructure.
  • Carry out risk assessments and contribute to the development of safe systems of work.
  • Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to ensure maintenance priorities are achieved.
  • Provide overtime support when required to meet business needs.

Job description

What We're Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 in an Engineering discipline (or equivalent).
  • GCSE Grade 5 (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a maintenance engineering role.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Good IT skills with experience using maintenance management systems.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A proactive, organised and solutions-focused approach.
  • Completed an engineering apprenticeship.
  • IOSH Working Safely or similar Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience with CNC machinery, automation, injection moulding or plating equipment.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and industrial automation systems.
