Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Daventry is seeking a Maintenance Technician for a permanent role in Power Systems.

The position offers 37.5 hours per week across three rotating shifts, with a competitive salary and shift allowances. You will perform preventive and reactive maintenance on complex manufacturing equipment, including automated lines and test cells, and you will use Maximo and other systems to keep production running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship or time-served trade qualification in electrical or mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with preventive maintenance (PPMs) and automated lines.
• Familiarity with Siemens S7 PLCs is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Safely undertake a full range of maintenance duties in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Fault finding and repair of plant and machinery including automated lines, nut runners and test cells.
• Ensure equipment functions correctly and efficiently after completion of work.
• Timely completion of PPMs to schedule.
• Respond promptly to events and prioritize tasks.
• Review equipment to pre-empt and prevent failures.
• Raise requisitions for spares and obtain supervisor approval.
• Support operation and train others as appropriate.
• Follow safe systems of work including LOTO, working at height, and confined spaces.

About The Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our Power Systems Business Segment in Daventry. This is a permanent role, working 37.5 hours per week on a three-rotational shift pattern, ensuring you have variety and balance in your working schedule.

Shift Patterns

• Morning Shift: Monday to Friday, 07.00am – 3.00pm
• Mid Shift: Monday to Thursday, 3.00pm – 11.00pm and Friday 10.30pm finish
• Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 11.00pm – 07.00am

Competitive Salary Package: £43,806 (depending on experience), plus shift allowance (£105 per week for Mid and £157.50 per week for Night), overtime, annual bonus, and a Cummins Reward Scheme.

What You’ll Do

As a Maintenance Technician, your role will be pivotal to keeping our operations running smoothly and safely. You’ll:

• Safely undertake a full range of maintenance duties within a complex manufacturing environment. The role will be predominantly working in the Assembly, Test and Trim areas ensuring key equipment is returned to production in a timely manner.
• Fault finding and repair of plant and machinery including automated lines, nut runners, test cells.
• Following job completion all equipment must be functioning correctly and efficiently.
• Timely completion of PPMs to schedule.
• Ensure a timely response to events.
• Review equipment with a view to pre-empt and prevent equipment failure.
• Raise requisitions for equipment spares in line with company cost, quality and delivery requirements and submit to supervisor for approval.
• Respond within skill boundaries for emergency procedure events.
• Liaise closely with Operation’s Supervisors on priorities and initiate analysis of data to support corrective engineering work.
• Support team operation and assist/train others as appropriate.
• Competently follow safe systems of work to complete tasks including working in confined space/at heights, LOTO where necessary.

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll need:

• Recognised apprenticeship (Time served electrician or mechanical fitter).
• Experienced in PPM techniques.
• Experience of automated lines (test cells preferable, Siemens S7 PLC knowledge an advantage).
• Experienced in working within Safe systems of work (LOTO, Working at height, Confined spaces).
• Computer literate (Maximo, Lotus Notes, Oracle).
• Able to follow a systematic problem solving process.
• Robotics experience preferred.
