Job summary

Jelly Technical is recruiting on behalf of a leading food manufacturer for an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to join their modern Preston facility. The role features a structured development programme and a rotating 12-hour shift pattern to promote better work/life balance in 24/7 production.

You will lead maintenance across automated production, ensure Health & Safety, Food Safety and GMP compliance, and mentor the maintenance team while driving uptime and reliability in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• Qualified to apprenticeship level or above (electrical or mechanical).
• Experience in a maintenance role within automated manufacturing (food/FMCG advantageous).
• Experience in a supervisory/mentor/coordinator role within maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety, and GMP compliance.
• Coordinate shifts, handovers, and provide leadership visibility.
• Delegate planned maintenance and prioritise breakdowns to minimise disruption.
• Work with other operations teams to improve machinery availability and minimise downtime.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues.
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns to minimise downtime.
• Highlight areas for performance improvement and reliability across the site.

As a Maintenance Supervisor your key responsibilities include:

• Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety, and GMP compliance
• Ensure effective shift coordination & handovers and provide leadership visibility
• Delegate planned maintenance duties effectively and ensure breakdowns are prioritised to ensure minimum disruption
• Work effectively with other operations teams to improve machinery availability and minimise downtime
• Carry out proactive and reactive maintenance support across all production areas
• Complete Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and troubleshoot mechanical/electrical issues
• Diagnose and resolve breakdowns efficiently to minimise downtime
• Highlight areas for performance improvement and reliability across the site

What You'll Bring:

• Qualified to apprenticeship level or above (electrical or mechanical)
• Experienced in a maintenance role within automated manufacturing with food / FMCG being advantageous but not essential
• Experience in a supervisory / mentor / coordinator role within maintenance
• Strong technical skills and familiarity with CMMS systems and MS Office tools
• Analytical and systematic approach to problem-solvingAbility to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced production environment
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
