Job summary

Pioneer Selection Ltd. on behalf of a leading high-volume manufacturer in Preston, Lancashire, seeks a Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance and improve plant availability. Salary is £60,000 with dayshift, Mon-Fri.

You will manage engineers, coach apprentices, and collaborate with Operations, CI and H&S to reduce downtime and drive reliability. Electrical knowledge is essential in a fast-paced site.

Qualifications

• Proven man-management / leadership experience within engineering/maintenance.
• Strong understanding of engineering maintenance, breakdown management and preventative maintenance best practice.
• Electrical understanding to support the electrical side of a mechanically biased team.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day maintenance operations (reactive + planned) to minimise downtime.
• Drive PPM completion, technician performance, and plant availability KPIs.
• Coach and develop engineers and team leaders to improve capability and standards.
• Support and develop apprentices (up to four) with a strong mentoring approach.
• Work cross-functionally with Operations, CI and H&S to deliver site objectives.
• Ensure compliance with statutory/legal requirements and maintain audit-ready documentation.
• Support improvement plans focused on waste reduction, efficiency, and performance.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Proven man-management / leadership experience within engineering/maintenance
• Strong understanding of engineering maintenance, breakdown management and preventative maintenance best practice
• Electrical understanding (the team has a strong mechanical bias, so you must be able to support the electrical side)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
