Job description

PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONSupport the Maintenance Manager in ensuring Tekapo Springs & Tekapo Stargazing property and assets are maintained, monitored, operational, and safe. Use your expertise to assist with preventative, corrective, and reactive maintenance, and diagnose and troubleshoot issues across the facility. Provide supervision to the maintenance team and act as the Maintenance Manager's 2IC during rostered days off. Ensure staff and contractor induction and training comply with NOPs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Assist with rosters and ensure alignment with budgets and business needs.

Lead by example, embodying Tekapo Springs values.

Supervise maintenance staff and contractors to meet operational standards.

Provide consistent feedback to the team.

Identify training needs and ensure staff are compliant with H&S, NOP, and other protocols.

Support the Maintenance Manager in developing and updating operational policies and procedures.

Keep maintenance records up to date.

Recommend changes when policies are outdated or ineffective.

Train staff to understand and follow procedures and best practices.

Plant and Property Management

Help ensure assets are clean, functional, and compliant with health and safety standards.

Supervise preventative maintenance tasks and minimize impact on operations.

Help design and implement efficient maintenance programmes.

Support efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental goals.

Ensure computerized systems are functional and current.

Equipment, Machinery & Vehicles

Contribute to a comprehensive maintenance plan for equipment, machinery, and vehicles.

Assist with vendor and contractor coordination for upgrades and purchases.

Maintain detailed records of maintenance projects.

Support asset inventory, replacement, and upgrade programmes.

Help maximize equipment and vehicle availability.

Other

Carry out additional duties as needed to support the business.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Model safe behavior and follow all health and safety policies.

Uphold the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and related regulations.

Ensure property, equipment, and plant meet workplace safety standards.

Help maintain security, chemical safety, gas, and fire systems.

Support health and safety training for all operational staff.

3+ years of supervisory experience in a relevant environment.

Skilled in training and developing staff.

Experienced with tools and equipment.

Capable of operating various vehicles.

Background in the tourism industry.

Knowledge of pool facility operations.

Experience with refrigeration plants.
