Job summary

Saputo Dairy UK operates a state-of-the-art site where you will work as a front-line engineer covering both mechanical and electrical needs to maintain assets across cheese and whey production areas. You will collaborate with the team leader on reactive and proactive tasks and pursue continuous improvement opportunities.

The role follows a 3-on/3-off pattern (days and nights) and involves working with a range of machinery, recording work in the CMMS, and supporting broader site operations to

Qualifications

• Time served apprenticeship, NVQ, or HNC/HND.
• Demonstrate multi-skilled engineering capabilities.
• Hands-on approach to engineering in production environments.
• Experience in FMCG production preferred.
• Able to work in a team and support others.
• Familiarity with different computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Deliver preventative maintenance schedules and reactive engineering tasks.
• Maintain and support pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment.
• Coordinate with engineering teams and production staff to plan work.
• Record and track work in the maintenance system.
• Support site operations and seek continuous improvements.
• Prioritise workload around production timescales.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Job description

SDUK's brands include the Nation's favourite cheese brand Cathedral City plus other well-known butter & spreads (Clover, Country Life, Vitalite, Utterly Butterly), functional ingredients and dairy free products.

This role sits within a state-of-the-art site where you will be operating with high care within a food production environment. You will predominantly be working as a front-line engineer (covering both mechanical and electrical requirements) to maintain and support installed assets across the cheese and whey production areas within the site working closely with the team leader.

Your responsibilities will cover both reactive and proactive engineering tasks, with an opportunity to add-value through the identification and delivery of continuous improvement opportunities.

Work pattern:3-on/3-off (days and nights)

YOU'LL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER BY…

• Delivering a range of preventative maintenance schedules and reactive engineering requirements
• Working with a range of machinery and instrumentation, including pumps, motors, valves, agitators, etc.
• Working with other engineering teams and production staff to plan and execute work
• Ensuring work is recorded and tracked via the maintenance system
• Supporting other areas and gaining broader experience of site operations
• Prioritising workload, ensuring awareness of production timescales
• Identifying continuous improvement opportunities

YOU'RE BEST SUITED FOR THE ROLE IF YOU ARE…

• A time served apprenticeship, NVQ, or HNC/HND qualification
• Able to demonstrate multi-skilled engineering capabilities
• Someone who enjoys taking a hands-on approach to engineering, working both in and outdoors
• Able to demonstrate knowledge and/or experience working within a production environment (FMCG preferred)
• Able to work in a team, supporting others with their workload and development when required
• Comfortable working with different computer systems
