Job summary

Cygnet Learning Disabilities Midlands Limited is seeking a Maintenance Operative/Assistant for the Sheffield Day Service. You will provide a comprehensive maintenance and repair service to support a safe environment for people in our care, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm.

You will carry out basic joinery, plumbing, painting and general building tasks, maintain equipment and respond to safe-handling concerns. A full driving licence and readiness to travel are required.

Qualifications

  • Experienced in a similar role or self-employed in recent years.
  • Willing to travel and hold a full valid driving licence.
  • Able to communicate at all levels and record detailed, accurate maintenance information.
  • Skilled at DIY and general maintenance.
  • Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry.
  • Friendly, conscientious and a good team member with a positive attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service.
  • Carry out tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work.
  • Maintain equipment, services & vehicles.
  • Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards.
  • Travel to other sites & may be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside normal working hours.
  • Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights.

You’ll be working Full Time 40 Hours a Week (Monday to Friday 8am - 4pm) at Sheffield Day Service, helping provide a safe and healthy environment for the people in our care.

Sheffield Day Services support people with a primary diagnosis of a learning disability, in addition to those with complex health needs, physical disabilities and autism. We aim to enhance the quality of life of the individuals who attend the service. We focus on demonstrating outcomes and value through our activities.

Your Day-to-Day
  • Provide a comprehensive maintenance & repair service
  • Carry out a range of tasks including basic joinery, plumbing, painting & general building work
  • Maintain equipment, services & vehicles
  • Comply with safe working practices & report faulty equipment and potential hazards
  • Travel to other sites & on occasions be on call to carry out emergency repairs outside of normal working hours
  • Check the fire alarm points weekly, including fire exits, door retaining devices & fire emergency lights
You are
  • Experienced in a similar role, or have worked in a self-employed capacity in recent years
  • Willing to travel & hold a full valid driving licence
  • Able to communicate at all levels & record detailed, accurate maintenance information
  • Skilled at DIY & general maintenance
  • Preferably experienced in the electrical/plumbing/construction industry
  • Friendly, conscientious & an excellent team member with a positive attitude
