Job summary

Vita Student in Newcastle is seeking a Maintenance Operative for day-time shifts to help keep our properties at the highest standard. You will respond to resident reports, perform planned maintenance, conduct inspections, and carry out basic repairs in a customer-facing environment.

Working hours are 9am–6pm, Monday to Friday, with a minimum 42.5 hours per week and occasional overtime during peak periods. The role offers a salary of £28,500 plus a performance-related bonus and a comprehensive

Salary: £28,500 plus performance related bonus and generous benefits (please see below).

Contract: Permanent, full-time. A minimum commitment of 42.5 hours per week

Required Days of Work: Monday - Friday

Working Hours: Between 9am-6pm

Our Maintenance Operative play a critical function, ensuring the smooth running of operational building facilities. This is a customer-facing environment where you will be responsible for maintaining Vita Student’s highest building standards.

Our Maintenance Operatives

• Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
• Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and performing scheduled maintenance tasks
• General repairs, such as fixing minor issues like leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.
• Performing minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up painting & decorating.
• Ground works, maintaining the upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass-cutting & hedge-trimming/shaping.
• Safety compliance. Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.

Professional Experience

• Experienced delivering preventive and corrective fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance
• Skilled across a variety of maintenance functions
• Well-versed in delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within a similar environment.
• Demonstrable understanding and adherence of safety compliance regulations and procedures.
• IT literate
