Job summary

Vita Student Manchester on First Street is looking for a Maintenance Operative to uphold the highest building standards in a vibrant student-focused environment. You will respond to maintenance requests across plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture and other equipment, perform planned preventative maintenance and routine repairs, and conduct regular inspections.

The role is permanent, 45 hours per week, with a salary of £28,500 per annum plus bonus; benefits include holidays,

Qualifications

• Experience delivering preventive and corrective maintenance in a residential/building environment.
• Strong understanding of safety regulations and procedures.
• IT literate with ability to use basic software or systems.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a customer-facing role.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests and address issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture and other equipment.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
• Perform general repairs such as fixing leaks, replacing fixtures, doors and wall repairs.
• Carry out tasks like flooring replacements, furniture repairs and painting/decorating.
• Maintain outdoor areas (grass-cutting, hedge-trimming) and ensure safety compliance.

Working Hours: Monday - Friday 9am - 6pm (Flexibility may be offered).

Our Maintenance Operative play a critical function, ensuring the smooth running of operational building facilities. This is a customer-facing environment where you will be responsible for maintaining Vita Student's highest building standards.

Our Maintenance Operatives

• Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.


• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)


• Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and performing scheduled maintenance tasks


• General repairs, such as fixing minor issues like leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.


• Performing minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up painting & decorating.


• Ground works, maintaining the upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass-cutting & hedge-trimming/shaping.


• Safety compliance. Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.
