Job summary

Vita Student is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Bristol. The role focuses on keeping building facilities running smoothly in a customer-facing environment and maintaining Vita Student’s high standards.

The position offers a permanent, full-time contract, 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with working hours 9am–6pm. Salary is £28,500 per annum, plus annual bonus and benefits.

Qualifications

  • Experience with safety regulations and procedures.
  • Demonstrable understanding of maintenance safety compliance.
  • IT literate and able to use standard software.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to maintenance requests and address issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and equipment.
  • Plan and perform Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
  • Regularly inspect residence facilities and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
  • Carry out general repairs such as leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, doors, and wall repairs.
  • Replace flooring, repair furniture, and perform touch-up painting and decorating.
  • Maintain outdoor areas and grounds including grass-cutting and hedge-trimming.
  • Ensure safety compliance and follow safety regulations during tasks.

Salary: £28,500 per annum, plus annual bonus and generous benefits (please see below).

Contract: Permanent, full-time. 42.5 hours per week

Required Days of Work: Monday - Friday

Working Hours: Between 9am - 6pm

Vita Student’s Maintenance Operative
  • Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.
  • Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and performing scheduled maintenance tasks
  • General repairs, such as fixing minor issues like leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.
  • Performing minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up painting & decorating.
  • Ground works, maintaining the upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass-cutting & hedge-trimming/shaping.
  • Safety compliance. Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.

  • Experienced delivering preventive and corrective fire alarm and firefighting system maintenance
  • Skilled across a variety of maintenance functions
  • Well-versed in delivering Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) within a similar environment.
  • Demonstrable understanding and adherence of safety compliance regulations and procedures.
  • IT literate
