Job summary

Vita Group is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Coventry to maintain premium student accommodation to high standards. The role is full-time, 42.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, 9am–6pm, with a base salary of £28,500 plus a performance-related annual bonus and generous benefits.

You will handle maintenance requests, perform preventative maintenance, and conduct inspections to keep buildings safe and welcoming. A hands-on, safety‑conscious approach is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering preventive and corrective fire alarm maintenance.
• Well-versed in Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Compliance with safety regulations and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Respond to maintenance requests for plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture and other equipment.
• Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
• Inspect residence facilities and perform scheduled maintenance tasks.
• General repairs such as fixing leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors and wall repairs.
• Replace flooring, repair furniture, and touch-up painting & decorating.
• Maintain outdoor areas including grass-cutting and hedge-trimming/shaping.
• Ensure safety regulations and procedures are followed.

Contract: Permanent, full time, 42.5 hours per week

Required Days of Work: Monday - Friday

Working Hours: Between 9am - 6pm

Responsible for maintaining premium student accommodation to the highest standards, this hands‑on role helps ensure that buildings remain safe, welcoming and operating smoothly.

Our Maintenance Operatives

• Respond to maintenance requests, promptly addressing student and staff reports of issues with plumbing, electrical, heating/cooling, lighting, furniture, and other equipment.


• Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)


• Conduct regular inspections of residence facilities to identify potential issues and performing scheduled maintenance tasks


• General repairs, such as fixing minor issues like leaky plumbing, broken fixtures, damaged doors, and wall repairs.


• Performing minor tasks like replacing flooring, repairing furniture, and touch-up painting & decorating.


• Ground works, maintaining the upkeep of outdoor areas such as grass-cutting & hedge-trimming/shaping.


• Safety compliance. Adhering to all safety regulations and procedures when performing maintenance tasks.
