Job summary

Adecco Group UK & Ireland is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer to support safe, compliant maintenance and improvement activities within a busy manufacturing environment in Irvine, Scotland. The role links operations and maintenance teams to drive safety, performance and reliability.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance, fault diagnosis, and documentation, while contributing to plant upgrades and continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications

  • Electrical qualification with relevant trade certification and/or apprenticeship.
  • Proven industrial/manufacturing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of motors, drives, PLC-controlled equipment, instrumentation and automation interfaces.
  • Understanding of electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout and permit-to-work systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting preventative maintenance programmes and fault-finding in live production environments.
  • Practical, hands-on approach with strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture and ensure electrical work complies with policies and safety legislation.
  • Support the day-to-day activities of the electrical maintenance team.
  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance to minimise downtime.
  • Provide hands-on fault diagnosis and rectification of electrical issues.
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes and reliability improvements.
  • Complete electrical documentation, permits, inspections and maintenance records on time.
  • Assist with plant upgrades, projects, installations and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Identify recurring faults and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Communicate with operations, mechanical, automation and engineering teams.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures and standards.

Job description

We are recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, effective and compliant operation of maintenance and improvement activities within a busy manufacturing environment.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring planned and reactive maintenance work is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards, while supporting plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a hands‑on role that acts as a key link between operations and maintenance teams, helping to drive high standards of safety, performance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring all electrical work is carried out in compliance with company policies, risk assessments and relevant electrical safety legislation.
  • Support the day‑to‑day activities of the electrical maintenance team.
  • Carry out planned and reactive electrical maintenance activities to minimise production downtime.

  • Support preventative maintenance programmes and continuous reliability improvements.

Knowledge & Experience
Essential
  • Electrical qualification with relevant trade certification and/or apprenticeship.
  • Proven experience within an industrial, manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems including motors, drives, PLC‑controlled equipment, instrumentation and automation interfaces.
  • Understanding of electrical safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures and permit‑to‑work systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience supporting preventative maintenance programmes and fault‑finding in live production environments.

  • Monday to Friday
  • Day Shift: 6:00am to 2:00pm
  • Back Shift: 2:00pm to 11:00pm
  • Friday back shift finishes at 6:00pm
