Job summary

gap technical is seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to provide maintenance support at their Bristol site. The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical fault-finding across 3-phase systems, motors, drives, and PLCs within a fast-paced FMCG environment.

You will perform reactive and preventative maintenance, support continuous improvement, and work closely with production teams to ensure safe, compliant operations on site.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineer or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience in FMCG manufacturing environments.
• Experience with 3-phase electrical systems, motors, drives and safety circuits.
• Experience with I/O PLC fault-finding (Siemens/Allen Bradley).
• Experience with automated food production and packaging equipment.

Responsibilities

• Reactive breakdown support to minimise disruption.
• Execute planned and preventive maintenance activities.
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using drawings, diagnostics, and equipment history.
• Identify and rectify recurring faults with permanent corrective actions.
• Support continuous improvement for equipment reliability and uptime.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams for safe operation.
• Assist with machinery modifications, upgrades and repairs.
• Ensure compliance with site health, safety and food hygiene standards.

Performance Objectives

• Reactive breakdown support to minimise disruption
• Execution of planned and preventative maintenance activities
• Electrical & Mechanical fault diagnosis using drawings, diagnostics, and equipment history
• Identification and rectification of recurring equipment faults, including implementation of permanent corrective actions
• Support for continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability and uptime
• Collaboration with production and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operation
• Assistance with machinery modifications, upgrades, and repair works as required
• All services delivered in compliance with site health, safety, and food hygiene standards

Profile

• Time-served engineer or demonstrable equivalent industry experience
• Multi Skilled Capabilities with proven capability in FMCG manufacturing environments
• Experience working with:
• 3-phase electrical systems
• Motors, drives, inverters, and safety circuits
• I/O PLC fault-finding (Siemens / Allen Bradley or similar)
• Automated food production and packaging equipment
• Able to work with minimal direction, managing workload and priorities independently
• Strong communication skills when liaising with site stakeholders
