Job summary

Kinetic plc in Blackburn is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a small team responsible for keeping food processing machinery running efficiently. The role includes carrying out preventative maintenance, fault finding, and liaising with senior staff to ensure parts supply.

The ideal candidate has strong electrical and mechanical knowledge, experience in FMCG, and holds an apprenticeship in electrical engineering. A focus on safety, GMP, and continuous skill development is required.

Qualifications

• Proven FMCG engineering and fault-finding background.
• Electrical and mechanical knowledge on food processing machinery.
• Apprenticeship with BTEC ONC/HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers.
• Undertake preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Repair faults and record measures to identify recurrent faults.
• Liaise with Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer to obtain parts.
• Minimise site downtime after machine breakdowns.
• Develop skills and knowledge continually.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental policies.

Duties

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers
• Undertake PPM's on equipment
• Action repairs and ensure all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised
• Liaise with the Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer to ensure the supply of appropriate parts
• Minimise the amount of downtime suffered by the site following machine breakdowns
• Continually develop your skills and knowledge
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures

Skills required

• Strong Electrical and Mechanical knowledge and ability on Food processing machinery
• Process control knowledge.
• Competent in building electrical control systems from switchgear through to software implementation.
• Engineering apprenticeship and associated qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering is essential
• Have a proven track record in an Engineering and fault-finding role gained from within a FMCG environment.
• Have a good understanding of HACCP, COSHH and GMP principles
• Drive Root Cause Analysis and strive to prevent re-occurrence with counter measures.
• PLC fault finding.
• CMMS experience and knowledge.
• Ability to deploy and execute the preventative maintenance strategy for the site.
