Job summary

Gap Technical is seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer on a contract basis for their Bristol facility. The role offers 4on4off night shifts and an hourly PAYE rate of £35, with focus on reliability, continuous improvement, and hands-on electrical maintenance across production equipment.

You will identify root causes, perform planned maintenance and overhauls, and train staff on machinery and processes while collaborating with production to optimize plant performance.

Qualifications

• Desirable experience in handling and automation environments.
• Multi-skilled engineer with electrical bias (70/30).
• Apprentice trained; holds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Identify and rectify root causes of machinery faults.
• Undertake planned maintenance, breakdown response, and annual overhauls.
• Provide training to staff on machinery and processes.
• Maintain and calibrate critical machine settings.

Performance Objectives

As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer - Electrically Biased, you will play a vital role in ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime across all production equipment. Drawing on your technical experience and problem-solving abilities, you will:

• Identify and rectify root causes of machinery faults, supporting both day-to-day maintenance and long-term improvements.
• Undertake planned maintenance, breakdown response, and annual overhauls to ensure high equipment availability and reliability.
• Provide training and guidance to new and existing staff on machinery and operational processes.
• Maintain and calibrate critical machine settings to support improved efficiency and product quality.
• Collaborate with production teams to plan and execute proactive maintenance strategies.
• Offer support and cover across teams as needed to meet operational demands.
• Drive initiatives to improve engineering practices, reduce downtime, and optimise plant performance.

Qualifications and Experience

Handling and Automation environment (this would be highly desirable).
