Job summary

Trinity Commercial is recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a busy steel manufacturing environment. You will work alongside an experienced engineer, performing preventive and reactive maintenance to keep machinery running safely and efficiently.

Occasional trainee opportunities exist; overtime is regular and rewarded with enhanced rates. The role offers long-term stability, a company pension, and on-site parking in a permanent position.

Qualifications

• Experience in maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Qualification or practical experience in Electrical, Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering.
• Hands-on approach with strong problem-solving skills.
• Reliable with a positive attitude; capable of learning and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative maintenance on production machinery (PPM).
• Respond to breakdowns with reactive repairs and fault finding.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Assist with servicing, repairs and continuous improvement projects.
• Co-operate with production teams to minimise downtime.
• Maintain a safe and organised working environment.
• Support the senior Maintenance Engineer with day-to-day tasks.
• Contribute ideas to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.

The Role

You'll be responsible for carrying out both preventative and reactive maintenance across a busy steel manufacturing environment, ensuring machinery and production equipment operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include:

• Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production machinery.
• Responding quickly to breakdowns and completing reactive repairs.
• Fault finding and diagnosing mechanical, electrical and hydraulic issues.
• Assisting with machinery servicing, repairs and continuous improvement projects.
• Working closely with production teams to minimise downtime.
• Maintaining a safe and organised working environment.
• Supporting the senior Maintenance Engineer with day‑to‑day maintenance activities.
• Contributing ideas to improve equipment reliability and factory efficiency.

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who is reliable, hardworking and committed to developing a long‑term career.

Ideally you'll have:

• Previous maintenance experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment, or
• A qualification or practical experience in Electrical, Mechanical or Hydraulic Engineering.
• A practical, hands‑on approach with excellent problem‑solving skills.
• Good common sense and a positive attitude towards learning.
• Strong reliability and excellent timekeeping.
• Flexibility to work overtime when required.

Overtime

There is regular overtime available due to the busy nature of the business.

Overtime is paid at:

• Time and one-third during the week.
• Time and a half on Saturdays.

Candidates should be flexible to support occasional early starts and Saturday working when required.
