Job summary

CRC Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join a fast-moving steel manufacturing environment. You will ensure that site, plant and machinery are maintained in good working order and repair.

Role is permanent with Mon to Fri 07:30–16:00, offering £32,000 to £40,000 per annum, 39 hours per week plus overtime. Includes pension, bonus scheme and death in service cover.

Qualifications

• Recognised qualifications required (Apprenticeship, BTEC, C&G, NVQ level 3).
• Experience with pneumatics, fault finding and rectification.
• Strong attention to detail and safe working practices.
• Demonstrated ability to work to deadlines with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• React quickly to emergency breakdowns and resolve issues efficiently.
• Investigate faults, identify causes and plan corrective actions.
• Learn from breakdowns and share improvement suggestions.
• Perform daily checks according to schedule.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance on site equipment.
• Supervise external contractors and ensure safety and contractual compliance.
• Support colleagues and contribute to training.

Maintenance Engineer

£32,000 to £40,000 per annum.

Mon to Fri 0730 - 1600.

Permanent role.

Working in a team of maintenance engineers in a fast‑flowing, steel manufacturing environment, you will ensure that all site, plant and machinery is maintained in good working order and state of repair.

Responsibilities

• React quickly to emergency breakdowns and work efficiently to resolve the issue.
• Investigate reported faults, identify the cause and decide the actions necessary for rectification.
• Learn from breakdowns and provide feedback and continuous improvement suggestions.
• Ensure daily checks are carried out to agreed schedules.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance tasks on a full range of equipment on site.
• Supervise external contractors and ensure compliance with contractual commitments and health and safety policies.
• Support colleagues and assist with their training.

Skills Required

• Recognised qualifications (Apprenticeship, BTEC, C&G, NVQ level 3).
• Pneumatics experience.
• Experience in fault finding, testing and rectification.
• Highly organised, methodical and safe approach to all tasks.
• Ability to work to deadlines and with minimal supervision.
• Enthusiastic, “can do” attitude.
• Keen to learn, curious and proactive.
• Willingness to help others.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Experience in mechanical, hydraulic, electrical & crane systems is desirable but not essential.
