Job summary

Gi Group UK in Coventry is seeking a skilled Maintenance Engineer for a night shift to maintain and improve production machinery. You will ensure high availability, perform first-line fixes and contribute to TPM schedules to boost uptime.

The role requires an HNC in Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering, PLC fault-finding experience (S5/S7/TIA Portal), and knowledge of electro-pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining. You will mentor apprentices and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• HNC in Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering required.
• 18th Edition electrical wiring qualification advantageous.
• Experience with PLC fault finding and safety systems.

Responsibilities

Maintenance Engineer

Shift Pattern: Night shift

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Maintenance Engineer to join our team in Coventry on a night shift pattern. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving the performance of our production machinery.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure technical availability of production machinery and facilities
• Perform first-line fixes to minimise downtime and support production continuity
• Maintain equipment to TPM schedules and improve machine uptime using OEE data
• Support building services and participate in improvement projects
• Mentor apprentices and provide technical advice when needed

Requirements

• HNC in Electrical/Electronics or Mechanical Engineering
• 18th Edition electrical wiring qualification (advantageous)
• Experience with PLC fault finding (S5, S7, TIA Portal), safety systems, and control panels
• Minimum 1 year in a similar role, ideally within a manufacturing setting
• Strong knowledge of electro‑pneumatics, hydraulics, and machining technologies
• Ability to work independently or collaboratively under time pressure
