Job summary

Kinetic plc is seeking an experienced Multiskilled Maintenance Engineer to join its Blackburn area team. This permanent role involves performing PPMs and reactive maintenance on food processing machinery, with either 4 on/4 off days and nights or a permanent 18:00-06:00 shift.

You will work with a small team, liaise with the Engineering Manager, and ensure minimal site downtime while maintaining high health and safety standards. Salary around £48,000 with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong electrical and mechanical knowledge on food processing machinery.
• Process control knowledge and hands-on repair experience.
• Building electrical control systems from switchgear to software.
• Engineering apprenticeship and BTEC ONC/HNC/HND essential in electrical engineering.
• FMCG environment fault-finding track record.
• Knowledge of HACCP, COSHH and GMP.
• Root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
• PLC fault finding experience.
• CMMS experience and preventive maintenance planning.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a small team of multi-disciplined engineers.
• Undertake PPMs on equipment.
• Record repairs and recurrent faults to prevent recurrence.
• Liaise with Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer for parts supply.
• Minimise downtime following machine breakdowns.
• Continually develop skills and knowledge.
• Comply with health, safety and environmental policies.

• Action repairs and ensure all measures taken are recorded so recurrent faults can be recognised
• Liaise with the Engineering Manager and Senior Engineer to ensure the supply of appropriate parts
• Minimise the amount of downtime suffered by the site following machine breakdowns
• Continually develop your skills and knowledge
• Comply with all health, safety and environmental policies and procedures

Skills required

• Strong Electrical and Mechanical knowledge and ability on Food processing machinery
• Process control knowledge.
• Competent in building electrical control systems from switchgear through to software implementation.
• Engineering apprenticeship and associated qualifications such as BTEC ONC, HNC, HND in Electrical Engineering is essential
• Have a proven track record in an Engineering and fault-finding role gained from within a FMCG environment.
• Have a good understanding of HACCP, COSHH and GMP principles
• Drive Root Cause Analysis and strive to prevent re-occurrence with counter measures.
• PLC fault finding.
• CMMS experience and knowledge.
• Ability to deploy and execute the preventative maintenance strategy for the site.
