b3 recruitment ltd is seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer in Wigan. This hands-on role requires fault-finding expertise across electrical and mechanical systems to maintain and improve manufacturing operations.

You will drive continuous improvement while ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory standards are met. The role operates on three rotating shifts with a competitive salary and a benefits package.

Qualifications

Engineering qualification with electrical bias is preferred.
PLC fault finding and diagnostics knowledge is required.

Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and respond to equipment breakdowns to maximise uptime.
Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on production machinery and site services.
Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities for reliability and efficiency.
Support engineering projects and equipment installations as needed.
Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, environmental, and H&S standards.

About the Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer job

As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving the company’s manufacturing operations, ensuring equipment runs safely, efficiently, and reliably. This is a hands-on role where you'll combine fault-finding expertise with proactive maintenance and continuous improvement activities to keep the manufacturing operation performing at its best.

Key tasks

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responding to equipment breakdowns to maximise production uptime.
Diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical faults across production machinery, utilities, and site services.
Identifying and implementing continuous improvement opportunities to enhance reliability, performance, safety, and efficiency.
Supporting engineering projects and equipment installations as required.
Ensuring full compliance with food safety, quality, hygiene, environmental, and health & safety standards.

About You

The successful candidate ideally shall have relevant engineering qualifications and experience - ideally with an electrical bias.

Experience and knowledge of PLC fault finding and diagnostic skills.
Strong analytical, planning, coordination, and communication skills.
Effective at building workplace relationships.
Results-driven with experience in FMCG / food manufacturing operations.
Resilient and flexible, able to work rotating shifts, and fully aware of customer expectations and quality standards.

The Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer job is based in Wigan and is paying up to £45,000 (including shift premiums and overtime) according to your experience.
