Job summary

RGR is seeking a Maintenance Electrician for a mobile role covering Swindon and surrounding areas. You will service commercial environments, primarily retail stores, performing planned maintenance, reactive repairs and remedial works.

The successful candidate will join a large mobile team, with a competitive package, overtime opportunities, and meaningful progression. A UK driving licence is required for this field-based position.

Qualifications

• Qualified Electrician to City and Guilds Part 2 / 2330 Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
• Up-to-date regulations: 18th edition.
• Experience in electrical maintenance within commercial environments is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Attend mobile maintenance visits across Swindon and surrounding areas.
• Perform planned maintenance/PPMs, reactive maintenance and remedial works.
• Carry out fault finding, wiring, testing and general electrical duties as required.

Maintenance Electrician | Swindon & Surrounding Areas | Mobile Role | Commercial Environments | £42,000 Base | Estimated Earnings up to £65,000.

We are actively recruiting for a Maintenance Electrician to work on a mobile basis within Swindon and surrounding areas. As the Maintenance Electrician, you will be attending a range of commercial environments (predominately retail stores) and carrying out planned maintenance / PPMs, reactive maintenance and remedial works.

You will be joining a large mobile team, working for a large, market leading service provider with a generous package, good overtime pay and plenty of progression and up-skilling opportunities.

Works for the Maintenance Electrician may include electrical fault finding, wiring, cabling, sockets, circuits, decorative lighting, emergency light testing, LED upgrades, lamps, ballasts, transformers, power distribution, temporary power supplies, electrical testing, electrical components within HVAC / building services equipment, and general maintenance duties as and when required, i.e.: changing door handles etc.

Employment Package

• Role: Maintenance Electrician
• Status: Permanent, PAYE - Paid Monthly
• Base Salary: £42,000 (40 hour per week contract).
• Estimated Earnings: Up to £65,000.
• Hours: Contracted Monday-Friday, 07:30am-4:30pm. Full operating hours are 9.5 hours out of the house, with flexible starting times, i.e.: leave home at 06:00am = home by 3:30pm. Leave home at 07:00am = home by 4:30pm.
• Travel time pay: Paid after 30 minutes each way. Paid at x1.5 rate for hours deemed unsociable or paid full time, at x1.5 rate for any hours exceeding 9.5 hours out of the house.
• Company van (business use), fuel card, 8% pension match scheme.
• Holidays: 26 days + bank holidays (total 34 days).
• Overtime: x1.5 rate Monday-Saturday / x2 rate Sundays. All hours, including travel time following 9.5 hours out of the house are classed as overtime. Overtime can be self scheduled on PDA system and does not need management / office permission.
• Call out rota: 1 in 8 weeks. £140 per week standby + minimum of 4 hours pay if called out.
• Location/Radius: Aim within 60 minutes of home, reality is maximum of 2 hours dependant on staffing levels, holiday cover etc.

Example Day Of Earnings With Overtime Structure

• Leave home: 06:00am (1 hour travel time paid at x1.5 rate)
• Arrive on-site at 07:30am
• Leave last job: 4:30pm (paid x1.5 rate from 3:30-4:30pm)
• Arrive home: 5:30pm (paid 1 hour travel time at x1.5 rate).
• Total hours on-site: 8.5. Total hours out of the house: 11.5. Total hours paid: 12.5. Equivalent earning of £65,625 (not including any weekends / call outs).

Requirements

• Must be a qualified Electrician to City and Guilds Part 2 / City and Guilds 2330 Level 3 / NVQ Level 3 standards of equivalent.
• Must have up to date regulations: 18th edition.
• Experience carrying out electrical maintenance works within commercial environments is highly beneficial.
• Must have a UK driving license with 9 points or less.
