Job summary

Dominus is seeking a Maintenance Assistant at Hampton by Hilton London City to help keep the hotel safe, maintained and running smoothly for guests and colleagues. You will work with the Maintenance Manager on planned and reactive tasks across the property, learning and developing technical skills in a busy hotel environment.

The role requires hands-on maintenance experience, a practical approach, and a solid understanding of Health & Safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, hospitality or similar operational environment with a hands-on approach.
• Good understanding of safe working practices and Health & Safety importance.
• Practical maintenance knowledge in areas such as electrical or plumbing is an advantage.
• Organised and proactive with ability to prioritise tasks.
• Confident problem-solver who works well independently and in a team.
• Comfortable using basic IT systems and maintaining records.

Responsibilities

• Support the Maintenance Manager with day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel and its facilities.
• Perform planned preventative and reactive maintenance safely and to a high standard.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational issues from guests and teams.
• Carry out routine checks and testing, including equipment and temperature checks, with accurate records.
• Keep plant rooms and back-of-house areas clean, safe and well-organised.
• Assist with Health & Safety, Fire Safety and other statutory requirements.

About the Role

As Maintenance Assistant at Hampton by Hilton London City, you will help keep our hotel safe, well maintained and running smoothly for both guests and team members. Working closely with the Maintenance Manager and wider hotel team, you will support planned and reactive maintenance across the property, respond to day-to-day maintenance issues and help ensure our equipment, facilities and back-of-house areas are maintained to a high standard. This is a hands-on and varied role, ideal for someone with practical maintenance experience, a strong approach to Health & Safety and a willingness to learn and develop their technical skills within a busy hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Maintenance Manager with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel, its equipment and facilities.
• Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and operational issues raised by guests and hotel teams.
• Carry out routine checks and testing, including equipment and temperature checks, maintaining accurate records where required.
• Help maintain clean, safe and well‑organised plant rooms and back‑of‑house areas.
• Support compliance with Health & Safety, Fire Safety, water safety and other statutory and Hilton requirements.
• Identify faults or maintenance concerns and take appropriate action, escalating or arranging further support where required.
• Work closely with hotel departments to prioritise maintenance needs and minimise disruption to guests and operations.
• Help protect and maintain hotel equipment and assets, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and prevent unnecessary breakdowns.
• Support the hotel's sustainability initiatives and responsible use of energy and resources.
• Maintain a proactive, flexible and collaborative approach, supporting the wider hotel operation when required.

About You

• Previous experience in a maintenance, facilities, hospitality, retail or similar operational environment, with a practical and hands‑on approach.
• A good understanding of safe working practices and the importance of Health & Safety.
• Practical maintenance knowledge, with experience in areas such as electrical, plumbing or another trade are an advantage.
• Organised and proactive, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond effectively to changing operational needs.
• A confident problem‑solver who takes ownership and works well both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable using basic IT systems and completing maintenance records.
• A relevant trade or maintenance qualification, such as an NVQ, would be an advantage but is not essential.
• Positive and willing to learn, with an interest in developing your maintenance and technical skills.
