Job summary

Kew Green Hotels is seeking a practical and reliable Maintenance Assistant to support upkeep across guest rooms and public areas. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will perform basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating and minor electrical work, plus safety checks to keep facilities safe and fully operational.

This hands-on role requires a proactive mindset, strong communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a maintenance or similar hands-on role.
  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, decorating or basic repairs.
  • Proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication and a commitment to safety and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and minor electrical work.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance issues across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes to keep equipment and facilities in good order.
  • Conduct regular safety checks, including fire alarm testing and compliance checks.
  • Identify and escalate safety risks or defects promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with all departments to support smooth hotel operations.

Job description

We’re looking for a practical and reliable Maintenance Assistant to support the upkeep of our hotel. You’ll play a key role behind the scenes, ensuring everything from guest rooms to public areas is well maintained, safe and fully operational.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll support both preventative and reactive maintenance, helping to deliver a high-quality environment that enhances the overall guest experience.

About the Role

You’ll support the day-to-day maintenance of the hotel, ensuring all areas remain functional, safe and well presented.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out a range of maintenance tasks including basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating and minor electrical work.
  • Responding promptly to maintenance issues across guest rooms, public areas and back-of-house spaces.
  • Supporting preventative maintenance programmes to ensure equipment and facilities remain in good working order.
  • Conducting regular safety checks, including fire alarm testing and compliance checks.
  • Identifying and escalating any safety risks or defects promptly.
  • Working collaboratively with all departments to support smooth hotel operations.
