Internal Job Title: Maintenance Assistant

Job Purpose:

This role works within the Lucy Property Maintenance Team and undertakes decorating, carpentry, basic brick laying, plumbing and other building maintenance requirements in our circa 300 rental properties in Oxford.

The role holder will be required to carry out building maintenance tasks to a high standard, within the allocated timescales and work efficiently with colleagues in the maintenance team.

Lucy Real Estate comprises Lucy Properties and Lucy Developments. Lucy Properties is a lettings & management business that invests in and manages 350 residential properties for over 850 tenants in Oxford, with in-house service and maintenance. Lucy Developments is a developer of high-end, sustainable homes for sale, with prime sites within a 90-minute commute time from Oxford.

Key Job Requirements:

The Maintenance Assistant is responsible for ensuring buildings and properties remain in good working condition. Key job requirements include performing routine maintenance tasks such as minor plumbing, electrical, and carpentry repairs, as well as general cleaning and landscaping. They must conduct regular inspections to identify and address any issues, assist with event setups, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Strong attention to detail and Effective communication skills are necessary to report issues and coordinate with our team and clients.

Job Dimensions:

This will be a client facing role based in and around Oxford, with the central office at the Lucy Real Estate office.

The role will also be part of the on-call emergency rota

The role will report directly to the Maintenance Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Completing scheduled property repairs and maintenance to a high standard
  • Conducting preventative maintenance and identifying when items need upgrading or replacing
  • Providing information and advice on maintenance issues to clients and customers
  • Repairs and maintenance duties include:
  • Basic plumbing
  • Painting and Decorating
  • Plastering and Brick work
  • Roofing and Guttering
  • Furniture removal
  • Driving The Company Van for waste disposal
  • Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and equipment
  • Comply with all Health and Safety regulations
  • To undertake any other duties and responsibilities as required/instructed in order to maintain and/or improve the efficiency, quality and service we provide.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and Painting and Decorating and Plastering.
  • Good communication
  • Previous experience in construction or property maintenance
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair minor issues with electrical, plumbing, and building issues
  • Familiarity with various tools and equipment
  • Clean Full driving licence
  • Positive and confident approach to tasks
  • Excellent people and time management skills
  • An ability to think logically and multitask
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Smart, professional appearance
