Graduate Hotels is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to join The Randolph Hotel and its talented team of hospitality enthusiasts!

The landmark 151-bedroom Randolph Hotel in Oxford is part of the Graduate Hotels collection. The boutique hotel takes inspiration from the prestigious Oxford University, with nods to college architecture and crests, as well as "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," created by alumnus Lewis Carroll.

THE ROLE

The Maintenance Assistant is a key role within the Maintenance team, responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of the hotel. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you will be hands-on, ensuring everything functions correctly and fixing issues as needed, always maintaining the hotel to a very high standard.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Rectify maintenance issues within the hotel daily, as directed by the Maintenance or Operations Manager.
2. Conduct regular checks to ensure the hotel is safe and functional for guests.
3. Diagnose, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment within the hotel.
4. Build good relationships with internal and external customers.
5. Support in preventative maintenance and testing of rooms and equipment, including plumbing, carpentry, painting, decorating, and electrical work.
6. Conduct regular fire alarm tests.
7. Perform structured PPM (Pre-Preventative Maintenance) to high standards.
8. Operate equipment in line with trained instructions.
9. Respond to maintenance call-outs when required.
10. Prioritize and complete jobs within departmental standards and timeframes, informing guests and managers if delays occur.
11. Follow C.O.S.H.H regulations, especially regarding hazardous substances.
12. Perform general maintenance tasks as needed.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR FROM YOU

• Previous experience in a similar role, ideally in a hotel environment.
• Good knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
• Ability to multi-task and make sound decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment.
• Effective communication skills.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including mornings, afternoons/evenings, and weekends.
• Qualifications in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, Carpentry, or Plumbing are advantageous.
• Current knowledge of general maintenance and engineering work.
• Ability to work independently within established timeframes.
