Job summary

Intelix.AI is seeking a hands-on mainframe engineer for a 6 month contract in the UK, hybrid with 3 days onsite in Sheffield/Birmingham. The role focuses on migrating critical workloads from legacy mainframe to modern platforms for a Tier 1 bank.

You will own migration waves from discovery to cutover, working across application, infrastructure and testing teams under delivery pressure. Cloud and distributed target platforms knowledge is desirable.

Qualifications

• Hands-on mainframe experience with z/OS, COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2.
• Track record of mainframe modernisation or migration in a large enterprise.
• Experience in Tier 1 banking and delivering under pressure across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the migration picture from discovery through cutover and hypercare.
• Lead refactoring, re-platforming or retirement of COBOL/JCL workloads with application/testing teams.
• Ensure data and functional parity validation so migrated services run safely in production.
