Activate Learning is seeking a proactive Machinery Workshop Technician to join our Engineering team at Reading college. You will support practical teaching by keeping workshops safe, well‑stocked, and fully equipped, working closely with teaching staff to enable learners to develop core hands‑on skills.
The role requires a Level 3+ Mechanical Engineering qualification and workshop experience, with a focus on safety, accurate record-keeping, and flexible contributions to an outstanding learning
About the role as a Machinery Workshop Technician:We are recruiting a proactive and organised Machinery Workshop Technician to join our Engineering team based at Reading college. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality practical teaching by ensuring our workshops, equipment and learning environments are safe, well maintained and fully equipped.Working closely with teaching staff, you will provide technical support across our Engineering workshops, helping learners develop their practical skills while maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.This is a full time (37 hours per week), permanent contract.
What do you need to be a successful Machinery Workshop Technician at Activate Learning?We are looking for an organised, proactive and positive individual with experience of working with and developing the skills and behaviours of young people, who can confidently support learners during practical activities, manage workshop resources and stock, maintain accurate records, and communicate effectively with staff and students, while contributing flexibly to an outstanding learning environment.
