Job summary

Abingdon and Witney College is seeking a hands-on individual to support our construction curriculum areas at our Oxford campus. You don't need a formal trade qualification, but practical experience in maintenance, construction, engineering, facilities or related fields will be valued.

The role is on-site, full-time, 37 hours per week, with a permanent contract and August 2026 start. You will assist learners in practical workshops, prepare tools and training areas, maintain safety standards,

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in a technical or trade-related environment.
  • Good problem-solving and organisational skills.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to support learners.
  • Basic IT, English and Maths skills.
  • Willing to train to drive a minibus.

Responsibilities

  • Support learners during practical workshops and activities.
  • Prepare and maintain tools, equipment and training areas.
  • Help create a safe, organised and engaging learning environment.
  • Assist lecturers with lessons, demonstrations and assessments.
  • Support open events, competitions and enrichment activities including occasional driving of the college minibus.

Salary: £25,458 - £26,290per annum

Hours per week: 37

Working pattern: Monday to Thursday 7.5 hours, Friday 7 hours

Weeks per Annum: 52 weeks per annum

Location: Horspath Rd, Oxford

Contract type: Permanent

Start date: August 2026
